marvel
sitting in a lovely little coffee shop in port aransas. watching eva drip her tea on the lid of the cup and suck it off over and over. smiling at how fearless and awesome both of the kids have been in the ocean. wanting to go back home. not wanting to go back home. this week has been a delightful time of reconnecting with paul and the kids. wonderment. joy. desiring to bring this feeling of peace home and refresh my life there. to continue this experience of love.

social artists. there's a paper to be written out of all this.
ah. i love my friends. beaming proud to know people unafraid to ACT. as my pal catherine and i have often joked about our own wee project: if we'd know it was all going to go this fast, we'd have started sooner or been to chicken to start!
"hey! i wonder what would happen if we....." it's kindof like pushin' paint. but real-life-monopoly style. and with people. and gatherings. it's like what the bird used to say "create your local art scene." there's so much brewing in our little neck of the woods.... :)

what a delightful sunday!
OCDP. YAY!
in other news, i dated this guy once who tattoed my name on his arm. cursive. turquoise script. when we broke up, he covered it with a turquoise state of texas. he swung by the house today and let me take a picture. sweet.

dallas
roy ivy writes the best dang lyrics. so much angst. listen to dallas here.
dallas
"I had your eye but
I dropped your eye
I was never really much of a catch (oh yeah)
I had your heart but
I always lose stuff
It never ever comes back again. (oh yeah)
I wanna sleep with someone who hasn't slept with anybody that i know
But it's pointless and it's incest. (oh yeah)
d-d-d-dallas
This is the place where we fell apart slowly
But each of us could never be lonely
All my exes live in Texas and they're all down the street
d-d-d-dallas
This is the place where you learn how to live broke
Drink for free, ya find ways to cope
Smokin' dope with fowler and trish
d-d-d dallas
This is the place where we couldn't get our shit together
This was a romance that couldn't make a may/september
All the pretty people that we wanna kiss
d-d-d-dallas"
i love this town.

more of the eldest semrad daughter's many talents
ok, my geek-out daughter is in chess camp for the next few weeks. she. is. so. good. and keeps busting out with all this awesome chess lingo. ready? here's a few:
rollermating
castling
queening
getting players 'out of bed'
there's more coming, i'm sure.
she's all casual about slinging her new terms and thinks several plays ahead before she moves a piece i.e. "papa! you're roller-mating me!" chess anyone?

personal coach
i took a non-profit leadership certificate course this past spring at smu. as a part of this course, i get a few hours of personal coaching time. dang, folks. it's so nice to have a sound-board who gets what i'm talking about and doesn't tell me what to do. she prys the answers i already have in my head out and has me tell HER what i'm going to do. genius. i love our appointments. she has me hollerin' 'go-team-sarah-jane' at the end of every call (ok, but not literally.) i highly recommend this service to anyone.

random images from the last few weeks
sprinkler time is awesome. espesh with strawberries!
jiri and his bear. twins.
lovely sky from last sunday.
jiri has instructionals from old lego sets. he reconfigures them using random instructions out of order and makes new ships. fairly brilliant for a 5 year old. he got that from paul.
i took this picture after one of those gigs where the hair and make-up took literally 3 hours and i was gawked at for only like 10 minutes. i was wearing more interesting clothes for the walk. no pictures of that. alas.
what a month.

company
i love having people to dinner. after about 6 months of having our lives on hold - we have begun having people over to dinner again right and left. lovely folks, making wonderful memories. some of my favorite people in the whole world have had dinner around our table. we send invites out into the universe weekly. some folks don't know what to make of an invite to dinner that doesn't involve a restaurant or sans a party. of an invite that is in a private home. it's a beautiful by-product of being a preacher's daughter, i say. we did this thing growing up all the time. i love to prepare food for friends and let the kids be all up in the comical conversation of folks they might know only from a friend's wedding (as was the case tonight) or one of mama's art shows.... over the years we've had countless artists, musicians, dear friends, and of course stragglers and folks we don't even know. once, during that year that i only road DART and didn't really drive, i totally brought home a hitch hiker from peru who was lost and needed some dinner. turns out - swell guy. we've had the occasional awkward dinner and the ones that turn into sing alongs around the piano. feeding people is joyous. {insert satisfied sigh here}
