it's a conspiracy!
nice little blurb in the observer this week about something called the 'art conspiracy'.... i think i'm gonna show up for this one.
and wow. here's a nifty article this week in the same publication about oh6 showing with an organization called 'pigeon-stone project'. huh. how interesting.

count down to installation
art conspiracy install is this friday. i am so excited. several of us spent the day getting ready. here's cari hammering the false walls:
and here's jason cutting up the plywood:
to make the 18 x 18 inch plywood squares the 100 artists will use as substrate material. shown here, being primered:
no trip to the texas theatre would be complete with out a little exploring:
and a once in a blue moon chance into the projection booth. look close, 'cause it won't be open for the event saturday night:
what is it with me and run-down decrepit buildings and obscure JFK related history??

i'm a scarecrow
my laptop died yesterday and it's being fixed today. really, what that translates to is that my entire brain is out of commission, in suspended animation, waiting and hoping and praying to all come back together in one piece, not unlike 'mike tv' in willy wonka and the chocolate factory. i should know something conclusive later tonight.
in the meantime, the three active photoshoots that i haven't given to clients as well as the 10 emails in my 'drafts' folder are just going to sit there until i get the laptop back in working order. i'm sure several folks are wonderng what the heck happened to me in cyberspace today.... those expected emails did not come through. it wasn't all a waste though: i did do some myspace fun-stuffs today that i would never ordinarily participate in, although not much else. luckily, we have two computers, so i'm not totally screwed. i mean, i can check bloglines and email. i just can't do anything about it.

first weekend in november. it's still hot. what a bummer.
knife in the water played at the cavern club saturday night. i was elated and disappointed all at the same time. see, they never tour and last time we saw them about 4 years ago at the gypsy tearoom. it was full band with peddle steel and percussian etc. so last night was disappointing and wonderfully intimate all at the same time to just get keyboards and guitar/vocals. although, i felt like we could have emailed them and begged them to do a living room show in exchange for room/board for the weekend and it would have been better. i mean, whatever. it was still such a treat to hear some really awesome songs live.
and the happy bullets rocked the house, as usual. andrea was especially entertaining for those who were there to witness. :)
and no weekend outing would be complete without self-portraits. it's becoming an obsession:

damn. i didn't have a camera.
so this evening, i went to a certain high brow department store downtown for a cooking class, as an invited guest of a friend. (ok, it was neiman's) anyway, it was swank. the wine was pouring freely. the chef was witty, funny, and well-informed in matters of cheese and salts. we received lovely blonde and cream folders with a gold NM logo with all the recipes demonstrated. (did i mention the wine?)
so at some point, i need to hit the ladies room. i excuse myself and start wandering blindly around and finally just ask, "um, where's the ladies room?" the guy-who-doesn't-speak-english-too-well-but-is-probably-not-the-sterotypical-hispanic-but-then-again-i-can't-tell-and-it-doesn't-really-matter-anyway leads me through a maze of offices and timeclocks and finally we turn a corner and viola, there it is. it's dingy, dark and faaaaaar worse than ships lounge at ross and greenville (not that i'm dogging the place, cause paul and i had our first date there). far worse. it was, like, shitty chinese restaurant bad. drips, leaks, shaky door, rounded out by paranoia about the camera-in-the-ceiling-like-i-saw-on-20/20.
"yes, i just bought a $10,000 dress and just finished my over-priced salad, excuse me while i run to the ladies room..."
maybe this is a niche for me: public restroom critiques. for those who know me well, i already have an entire photo show based around this theme.

many treats. many, many treats.
check out the fabu review of the happy bullets album, the vice and virture ministry on popmatters.com. wow. i mean, i know they're really good. but damn. this is such a great thing for them. they've been on a press roll lately.
moving on, band lineup for the art conspiracy is almost final.... i think. i mean, it is. here it is: the happy bullets, the theatre fire, pleasant grove, and salim nourallah. FYI: i still need artists and volunteers.... so call me. email me. anything.
the november issue of modern luxury came out yesterday. um, yeah, there's a huge article about pigeon-stone project. after searching and searching online, i couldn't find a repro of the article anywhere on the site. and because i have little to no shame what-so-ever, i may actually scan it and post it here. **interesting disclaimer: i actually used the word 'pedigree' and was quoted saying so. for the record, i'm mortified.
