busy week babblings
laying low for a few days. we've got hurricane katrina refugees staying with us and and we're trying to get set to go to my favorite place on earth: my grandma's ranch near uvalde. i'm terribly excited and thrilled to go! float the river, hang out with the kids, shoot pictures, do NOTHING for a few days. ahhhhh.
this fall is an intense line-up for us. 9.10 is the opening at continental gallery featuring the work of mark searcy, brian gibb (both of art prostitute), nevada hill (their intern) and of course the ridiculously talented michael abel..... the four of them are putting on a stellar show where nyddia and i will be launching the new Pigeon-Stone Project t-shirts. we're also collaborating with OH6 in November as well as participating in something Randall Garrett is putting together at the Casket Factory. lots going on. we've even got a couple articles coming out; one in the dallas observer this week and the other, well, i don't wanna ruin it. but it's gonna be november before it's published....
needless to say, unless it's crazy-interesting, i'l laying low for a week or so. pray for our refugee family.... the mama is 33 weeks pregnant and we've already got her a prenatal appointment scheduled, ptl. sigh.

i've found my dream house. (thanks andrea for the link.) i aspire to get the nerve
- side note tangent: is this like "fixin' to get ready to go" as far as i can tell one is already two to three steps from actually leaving with that kind of language. 'aspire to get the nerve' is along these lines, i think' -
anyway, i fantasize about selling our home and all our stuff and living simply. super simple. that little tid-bit on the dock wouldn't cut it for the mama-papa-eva-jiri unit but upon reading deeper and deeper into the site, one would link multiple units together with outdoor hallways to create a not-so-tiny-house. but not in the city. this would require finding some land close enough to the city that we can still function and have jobs etc.... but far enough away to not look like freakin' keebler freaks. paul: are you reading? you know i'm crazy as a loon and would totally do this. you ready?

eva and jiri had some friends over today and i made homemade banana bread. talk about some good memories.
my life's pretty exciting behind what i write about on here, i promise. but not all of my shenanigans are appropriate for web distribution. lots of stuff about homeschooling, God, pigeon-stone opportunities, phone calls and dear dear friends.

Pigeon-Stone Project : Van Ditthavong : Sozo
Van Ditthavong is showing Doll + Dolls at Sozo Gallery through September 5. The reception is this Saturday from 7-10PM. I don't want to spoil all the goodies, but the reception will feature tea-party fare, including spiked lemonade and glazed animal cookies.... in addition, Van will be shooting patrons and potential patrons alike with a polaroid, posing them with various dolls and doll parts. NICE.

this is one of my favorite shows that nyddia and i have put together. it's well-thought out and interesting, not to mention wonderfully seedy and uncomfortable. the work is also well-executed and pretty damn brilliant. come check it out on saturday night.

the two sisters show featuring bob nunn is a beautiful show, for those of you who did not make it out. do stop by and see a local master and art professor show some recent work....
after the reception, the two sisters curator, erica, and i went over to eddie's studio to check out some new work. GORGEOUS stuff and so true to who he is. marvelous paintings.....
and no trip to expo park would be complete, especially now that the gallery is closed :(, without a trip to the coffeehouse..... with the lights out..... and looooooong exposures. FUN!
and finally, check out the dallas observer blurb about kelly berry's show on friday.... rock on.

after picking up the kids etc and getting home at a semi-decent hour, it was time for a 2AM game of croquet....

rlp
the new Real Live Preacher site is up. it's nice.
{ok. in all honesty, i had all this commentary about being a preacher's daughter, but i've chickened out on posting such nonsense. in any event, the new rlp is nice.}
