semi-guilty pleasure
ok. all these social utility sites are making me seriously want to bang my head on my desk. linkedin. myspace. facebook. twitter. friendster. 43things. flickr. orkut. lastfm. i mean, honestly, the list goes on and on. some of them are useful, sure. even interesting to see how they work. heck, occasionally even fun and weird. every time i join one, i get bombarded with people wanting to be 'friends' and then i see one friend who is so-and-so's friend and feel like seeing if they want to be my friend too, which they always do. i could do it for hours if i wanted to (but i clearly don't.) searching and clicking and gathering every last person i know into my covey on all these various sites. what's funny is it's the same people on all the sites. ha! i did an internet purge once before. de-enrolled from a bunch of stuff i never log into anymore. i think it's time to do it again, my gosh.
this furthers my desire to go third world when the kids are teenagers. go be missionaries somewhere or something. poor things, by the time they're that age, they'll have to spend all their time updating and tweaking their social utilities and not enough time participating in conversation face-to-face and reading good books. youknowwhatimean?
