i love having people to dinner. after about 6 months of having our lives on hold - we have begun having people over to dinner again right and left. lovely folks, making wonderful memories. some of my favorite people in the whole world have had dinner around our table. we send invites out into the universe weekly. some folks don't know what to make of an invite to dinner that doesn't involve a restaurant or sans a party. of an invite that is in a private home. it's a beautiful by-product of being a preacher's daughter, i say. we did this thing growing up all the time. i love to prepare food for friends and let the kids be all up in the comical conversation of folks they might know only from a friend's wedding (as was the case tonight) or one of mama's art shows.... over the years we've had countless artists, musicians, dear friends, and of course stragglers and folks we don't even know. once, during that year that i only road DART and didn't really drive, i totally brought home a hitch hiker from peru who was lost and needed some dinner. turns out - swell guy. we've had the occasional awkward dinner and the ones that turn into sing alongs around the piano. feeding people is joyous. {insert satisfied sigh here}
