this looks so cool
Road Agent Ambush 2006
(Stand and Deliver: Your Money or Your Life)
Starting July 14, running through August 25.
Every Friday evening this summer, Road Agent mounts a different mini-exhibition of new work by a mystery artist whose studio and mind we looted (earlier that week).
Road Agent Ambush is essentially two things: a group show spread out over time, and a weekly in-gallery studio visit. All the work in Ambush is totally new, fresh out of each artist’s studio. The exhibitions will be often one to three fully realized pieces you may not otherwise have an opportunity to view. (And some of the work will ship off to other cities within days of being completed.) Ambush is an opportunity to bring the community together, discuss the work—discuss, even, the state of the North Texas art scene during the long, lazy days of summer. We’ll drink beer and slap each other on the back, talk about the vacations we’re not taking this year.
Some of the artists you already know; some will be new to you. All are making work worth the time and space. Artists include: M., Titus O’Brien, Richard Patterson, Edward Setina, Paul Slocum, Raychael Stine, and Erick Swenson. Now you know who the players are, but you’ll have to show up to find out who’s up that Friday. Though we’ll confirm that M. will kick things off, all bets are off when it comes to who’s next.
addendum from Road Agent: The whole thing, really, is based on a year-long project Road Agent witnessed in London in 2000. It was high energy, cool, and always interesting.
